Philadelphia-born Susan Mazer now lives and works in Connecticut. She
received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Hartt School of Music, and is
currently on the faculty at the Hartford Conservatory. Her intricate
fingerstyle guitar and dobro playing led her to become the first female guitar
instructor at the famous National Guitar Workshop. Susan has been featured on
many CDs including a special bonus track in the June 1998 issue of Guitar
Player magazine. Her original piece “Burghers
of Callais” was highlighted in the issue as well as an article about her
fingerstyle method. She is the author of several popular instructional books,
videos, and CDs for Alfred Publishing, including “Guitar For The Absolute Beginner” and “Learn to Sing and Play Guitar.” For the last fifteen years she has
traveled throughout New England playing and
singing with various acoustic duos including the Laura Coyle Band, Tracy Blackman and Union Station.
